School Day: 7:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
The school day begins daily at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:15 p.m. Students reporting later than 7:30 a.m. will be marked tardy. Breakfast is served daily from 6:50 until 7:20 a.m. Note: Students who wish to eat breakfast should be dropped off no later than 7:10 in order to have time to eat before going to class.
Class rosters will be posted August 15. Copies of the school supply wish list can be found on the schools website or Facebook page. A brief orientation will be held on Wednesday, August 16 from 8:00-9:00 a.m. for pre-kindergarten parents; 9:15-10:15 a.m. for kindergarten parents; and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for first grade parents. Please make sure to attend during the appropriate time due to limited parking.
After the orientation, parents are invited to drop in to meet their child’s teacher to see the classroom, join the PTA, order an Oakland t-shirt, and sign up for parent pick-up cards. We will also have booths set up with information regarding day cares.
The first day of school for kindergarten and first grade students is Tuesday, August 22. Parents are asked to pin a small piece of paper on their child during the first two weeks of school with the child’s name, telephone number, and bus numbers. If the child will be picked up daily, please indicate parent pick-up or the name of the daycare that will pick the child up.
Pre-kindergarten classes will begin on Wednesday, August 23. Pre-kindergarten teachers will continue to screen students for the pre-kindergarten program on August 21 and 22.
On the first day of school, the students will receive a packet of information to share with parents. Please complete all requested forms and return them to the school the following day.
Please check the school’s website (ops.sumterschools.net) or the Oakland Primary School Facebook page for the supply lists and other pertinent information. We are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding school year as we continue to build the future one child at a time.
