Mark GillardMr. Mark Gillard is originally from Toledo, Ohio and is the tenth child of thirteen (9 boys/4 girls).  He is a 21 year United States Air Force retiree spending 15 years as a military policemen and six years as a recruiter.  During his time in the Air Force, he served in Kuwait, Honduras, South Korea, Belgium and numerous United States.  Mr. Gillard served during The Cold War, Desert Storm/Desert Shield (Persian Gulf War), Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Southern Watch.  Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he began working for the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, South Carolina at the Midlands Evaluation Center.  He wanted to better try and positively impact youth and began working for Mayewood Middle school as a behavior interventionist where he coached football and girls’ basketball.  He worked at Bates Middle School as the Career Specialist, coached football/track, and served as the advisor of the male empowerment group “Bates Men of Purpose.”   He currently serves at the Sumter School District Work-based Learning Coordinator. He serves on the Sumter Chamber of Commerce Education Committee.  Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and the Global Career Development Facilitator certification.  He has been married to the former Joyce Marie Johnson for 27 years and has four wonderful children MarClar, Marcus, Lona Marie, and Rachel Irene.
