Zachariah Lowe, an 8th grade social studies teacher at Mayewood Middle School, has been selected to attend the Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation Civil War Washington Teacher Fellows program, hosted by the learning consortium of Ford’s Theatre, the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, President Lincoln’s Cottage, and Tudor Place Historic House & Garden. During this all-expenses paid professional development program, Zachariah will join up to 25 teachers to learn about Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass and the city of Washington during the Civil War. After the program, he will obtain a variety of digital tools and resources for his classroom in addition to skills and strategies on how to use classroom drama to help historic characters come alive.
