School Bus

Will transportation be provided for students?

Transportation will be provided for students who attend school within their attendance zones.

Students will receive special transportation as determined in their Individual Education Program.  All safety protocols will be followed as outlined.

  • Ensure at least six feet of distance between the bus driver and students when seated. These may include the use of physical partitions or visual cues (e.g., floor decals, colored tape, or signs to indicate to students where they should not sit or stand near the bus operator).
  • Ensure bus drivers and students are wearing face coverings at all times while waiting and riding on buses.
  • Maximize physical distancing between students on the bus by limiting available seats to the extent practicable (e.g., every other row available for seating).
  • Students from the same family and/or the same classroom should be instructed to sit together whenever possible to minimize exposure to new contacts.
  • Buses will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected daily and in between routes.


Loading the Bus

  • Face coverings (defined as face-shield or face-mask) are required for drivers and students.
  • Students should stand safely at their bus stop 10 minutes prior to scheduled arrival time.
  • Students should adhere to the social distancing protocols while standing at their bus stops.
  • Students should load in a safe manner to avoid crowding the service door.

While Riding the Bus

  • Parents should communicate with their child(ren) regarding expectations for the use of face coverings at school and on the bus and social distancing.
  • Seats will be marked to indicate appropriateness for seating.
  • Seating charts are required and will be adhered to on EVERY bus. Students must sit in assigned seats that will be identified with name tags/yellow markings.
  • Students must remain seated at all times.
  • Students must keep hands, feet, etc. out of the aisle and windows.
  • Students will not adjust windows, air vents, etc.
  • Students will not share clothing, listening devices, phones, etc.
  • Students will not throw objects.

Exiting the Bus

  • Students will exit the bus one at a time with a minimum of three seats between them and will be prompted to move with the driver’s instructions.
  • Students will keep hands, feet, etc. out of the aisle when exiting the bus.

School Bus Sanitation between Routes

  • Drivers will disinfect the bus after each route including high touch surface areas.
  • Buses will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected daily and after transporting an individual who exhibits COVID-19 symptoms.

Afternoon Loading at Schools

  • Students will load the bus one at a time with a minimum of three seats between them and will be prompted to move with the driver’s instructions.
  • Students must sit in assigned seats that will be identified with name tags.
  • Students will keep hands, feet, etc. out of the aisle.

Exiting the Bus in the Afternoon

  • Students will exit the bus one at a time with a minimum of three seats between them and will be prompted to move with the driver’s instructions.
  • Seated students will keep hands and feet out of the aisle when others are exiting the bus.
