Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year Manchester Panther Families! We would like to announce for the 2023-2024 school year we will continue Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) schoolwide (Prekindergarten through Grade 5). The goal of AVID is to utilize best practices and systems to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. An important part of our implementation will be our school agendas (calendars) and 3-ring binders for all students.

The first day of school for first through fifth grade students is Thursday, August 3. Prekindergarten and kindergarten students’ first day of school is August 10. Our Prekindergarten and kindergarten teachers will contact you to schedule appointments to complete early screening and beginning of the year assessments during the week of August 3-9. Registration is open for all students in prekindergarten through Grade 5.

To help prepare for the new school year, we would like to cordially invite all of our families to attend our Jump Start Camp and Parent Orientation on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Prekindergarten, kindergarten and first grade students and their parents/guardians may drop in anytime between 2 – 3:30 p.m. Second through fifth grade students and their parents/guardians may drop in between 3:30 – 5 p.m. Each classroom teacher will send a postcard to welcome all of our students to their new classrooms.

During our Jump Start Camp and Parent Orientation, parents and students will have the opportunity to meet their child’s homeroom teacher, learn more about AVID, prepare your child’s AVID binder, complete student paperwork, and receive grade level expectations. Parents will also be able to meet other faculty and staff members, sign up for the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), receive parent portal information, bus route information, meet with the school nurse, register for car-rider pick up numbers and get Chromebooks information.

We are pleased to announce that once again this year, all necessary school supplies will be purchased through our Title I project. The only thing not provided are student backpacks.

Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures: Students may be dropped off under the awning in our

parent drop-off/pick-up line as early as 6:50 a.m. All students will be offered a

free, nutritious breakfast beginning at 6:50 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 7:30 a.m. Students arriving after 7:30 a.m. must be signed in at the front office. Student pick-up begins at the front of the school under the awning at 2:15 p.m. In order to keep all students safe, we ask parents to remain in their cars and use their assigned parent pick-up number when picking up students.
